FAQ

What is Trufix 440 White?

Trufix 440 White is a premium, high-performance, polymer-modified, white cement-based tile adhesive designed for fixing light-colored or translucent tiles on interior and exterior floor and wall substrates. It provides superior bonding strength, excellent flexibility, and enhanced water resistance, along with a bright white color that enhances the appearance of the installation.

What are the key features of Trufix 440 White?

Trufix 440 White is a white-colored, thin-set, cement-based tile adhesive with advanced performance characteristics, such as:

  • Superior bonding strength and shear resistance
  • Excellent flexibility and deformability
  • High sag resistance for vertical applications
  • Extended open time and adjustability
  • Enhanced water resistance and durability
  • Bright white color for light-colored or translucent tiles
  • Compatibility with a wide range of tile types and sizes
  • Suitability for demanding substrates and environments

What are the advantages of using Trufix 440 White for light-colored tiles?

Trufix 440 White offers several advantages for installing light-colored or translucent tiles, such as:

  • The white color prevents any darkening or shadowing effect behind the tiles
  • It enhances the brightness and aesthetics of glass, marble, or light-colored tiles
  • It provides a uniform and consistent substrate color for thin or translucent tiles
  • It eliminates the need for additional white underlayments or membranes
  • It ensures a seamless and professional finish for high-end installations

What substrates can Trufix 440 White be used on?

Trufix 440 White can be used on a wide range of stable, dry, or damp substrates, including concrete, cement screed, cement backer board, brick masonry, cement plaster, gypsum plasterboard, and existing ceramic tile or natural stone surfaces. It is also suitable for use on heated floors, swimming pools, and exterior facades.

What tile types can be fixed with Trufix 440 White?

Trufix 440 White is compatible with a wide range of tiles, including ceramic, porcelain, vitrified, mosaic, glass, and natural stones like marble, granite, and limestone. It is particularly recommended for light-colored, translucent, or thin tiles that require a white background for optimal aesthetics.

How is Trufix 440 White mixed and applied?

Trufix 440 White is mixed with clean water in the ratio of 4.5-5 parts of powder to 1 part of water by volume to obtain a lump-free, creamy consistency. The adhesive is then spread on the substrate using a notched trowel, and the tiles are pressed firmly into the adhesive bed, ensuring complete coverage and a uniform thickness.

What is the recommended notched trowel size for applying Trufix 440 White?

The recommended notched trowel size for applying Trufix 440 White depends on the size of the tiles and the substrate condition. For tiles up to 600 mm x 600 mm, use a 12 mm x 12 mm square-notched trowel. For larger tiles or uneven substrates, a larger notch size or a back-buttering technique may be necessary to ensure proper coverage and support.

What is the open time and pot life of Trufix 440 White?

Trufix 440 White has an extended open time of approximately 30-40 minutes at 30°C, allowing more time for installation and adjustments. The pot life of the mixed adhesive is around 3 hours at 30°C. Do not add more water or use the adhesive beyond its pot life.

How long does Trufix 440 White take to set and cure?

Trufix 440 White sets in 24 hours and achieves full bond strength in 14 days at 30°C and 50% relative humidity. The tiles can be grouted after 24 hours, and the tiled area can be subjected to light foot traffic after 48 hours. Protect the tiled surface from water exposure and heavy loads during the curing period.

Can Trufix 440 White be used for installing glass mosaics or translucent tiles?

Yes, Trufix 440 White is highly recommended for installing glass mosaics, translucent tiles, or any light-colored tiles that require a white background for uniform appearance and brightness. Its white color, superior bonding strength, and excellent flexibility make it ideal for such delicate and aesthetically demanding installations.
