FAQ

What is Trufix 330 Grey?

Trufix 330 Grey is a high-quality, polymer-modified, cement-based tile adhesive designed for fixing ceramic, vitrified, and natural stone tiles on interior and exterior floor and wall substrates. It provides excellent bonding strength, improved flexibility, and water resistance compared to traditional cement adhesives.

What are the key features of Trufix 330 Grey?

Trufix 330 Grey is a grey-colored, thin-set, cement-based tile adhesive with enhanced performance characteristics, such as:

  • High bonding strength and shear resistance
  • Improved flexibility and crack-bridging ability
  • Good sag resistance for vertical applications
  • Extended open time for easier installation
  • Water resistance for wet area applications
  • Compatibility with a wide range of tile types and sizes

What are the advantages of using a polymer-modified cement-based tile adhesive like Trufix 330 Grey?

Polymer-modified cement-based tile adhesives like Trufix 330 Grey offer several advantages over traditional cement adhesives, such as:

  • Stronger bonding and improved adhesion to various substrates
  • Better flexibility to accommodate minor substrate movements or deflections
  • Reduced water absorption and increased water resistance
  • Easier workability and extended open time for adjustments
  • Improved resistance to thermal variations and freeze-thaw cycles
  • Enhanced durability and long-term performance of the installation

What substrates can Trufix 330 Grey be used on?

Trufix 330 Grey can be used on various stable, dry, or damp substrates, including concrete, cement screed, cement backer board, brick masonry, cement plaster, and existing ceramic tile or natural stone surfaces. It is suitable for both interior and exterior applications on floors and walls.

What tile types can be fixed with Trufix 330 Grey?

Trufix 330 Grey is compatible with a wide range of tiles, including ceramic, porcelain, vitrified, mosaic, quarry, and natural stones like marble, granite, and limestone. It can be used for fixing tiles up to 600 mm x 600 mm in size on floors and walls.

How is Trufix 330 Grey mixed and applied?

Trufix 330 Grey is mixed with clean water in the ratio of 4-4.5 parts of powder to 1 part of water by volume to obtain a lump-free, creamy consistency. The adhesive is then spread on the substrate using a notched trowel, and the tiles are pressed firmly into the adhesive bed, ensuring complete coverage and a uniform thickness.

What is the recommended notched trowel size for applying Trufix 330 Grey?

The recommended notched trowel size for applying Trufix 330 Grey depends on the size of the tiles and the substrate condition. For tiles up to 300 mm x 300 mm, use a 6 mm x 6 mm square-notched trowel. For tiles larger than 300 mm x 300 mm or uneven substrates, use a 12 mm x 12 mm square-notched trowel to ensure adequate coverage and support.

What is the open time and pot life of Trufix 330 Grey?

Trufix 330 Grey has an open time of approximately 20-30 minutes at 30°C, which is the maximum time interval after application during which the tiles can be fixed without loss of adhesion. The pot life of the mixed adhesive is around 3 hours at 30°C. Do not add more water or use the adhesive beyond its pot life.

How long does Trufix 330 Grey take to set and cure?

Trufix 330 Grey sets in 24 hours and achieves full bond strength in 14 days at 30°C and 50% relative humidity. The tiles can be grouted after 24 hours, and the tiled area can be subjected to light foot traffic after 48 hours. Protect the tiled surface from water exposure and heavy loads during the curing period.

Is Trufix 330 Grey suitable for use in wet areas or exterior applications?

Yes, Trufix 330 Grey is water-resistant and suitable for use in wet areas like bathrooms, kitchens, and swimming pools, as well as exterior applications like balconies, terraces, and facades. However, for demanding applications or large format tiles, consider using Trufix 440 or Trufix 550 for enhanced performance and durability.
